The Passion of Pontis

Pontis Architectural Group’s name origin tells our story. We wanted a unique name that symbolized who we are and what we are about. Instead of using the name Alan Shurtliff Architecture or Shurtliff and Associates, we dug a little deeper. The word Pontis is derived from the Latin word “pons” meaning “bridge”. Our tag phrase “Bridging Dreams by Design” is exactly what we are passionate about. We want to bridge the gap between our client’s dreams and their finished product. Our design process will “bridge” our clients across what is normally a very stressful and demanding process that many clients are frustrated with. Many clients find themselves with dreams and aspirations of what they want with their project but lack the ability to form those into a plan and a formal design. With our experience and our commitment to their project we are able to creatively bring their vision to life on paper. Then in a collaborated effort this is transformed into construction documents for the contractor to know and understand what the client’s Dreams are.

Pontis Architectural group was established in February 2007 with Alan Shurtliff and Paul Magleby. The Architectural firm was formed to office in Magleby Companies corporate office and support the needs of Paul Magleby’s construction company and their clients. With the many years of experience in commercial architecture Alan Shurtliff also supports the needs of many clients not associated with Magleby Companies.

Pontis architectural firm is very unique in its clients as well as its projects. We have the abilities to work on large multi-story building while maintaining the ability to work on small residential remodels. Pontis has completed projects ranging from a bank building to an underground sports court. Our firm recently designed a multi million dollar, private owner, indoor pool building equipped with water slides and water falls.

We also consider our experience with a variety of private residences and estate projects gives us a background of creativity and experience to provide design concepts that will enhance your project while providing added value and sustainability.

Pontis is capable of designing your project with a variety of structural systems ranging from reclaimed material, timber framed materials or conventional steel structures. We understand that every project has a budget and we have a history of helping to direct our clients in the cost associated with the different types of construction. Part of our approach to the design process is to help our clients know the expected maintenance of selected materials.

Pontis Architectural Group thrives in competition. We have won several commissions when placed in design competition` against some of the most admired architectural firms. We are passionate about what we do, and when given that opportunity to showcase our talent and creativity, we are quickly identified as a premier option to the client.
